The Laboratory of Applied and Computational Electromagnetics (LEMAC), headed by Prof. Dr. Hugo Enrique Hernandez Figueroa, is part of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC) at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP).
LEMAC is a center of excellence in teaching, research and extension that for more than two decades has studied the behavior of waves and electromagnetic fields.

Our line of research in Electromagnetism involves theoretical and experimental aspects in the study and development of new methodologies and devices.

Equipped to operate in the optical and visible communications bands. In the computational line, we have developed numerical methods that allow an increasingly efficient, robust and comprehensive resolution of Maxwell's Equations, including new materials and manufacturing technologies, with the incorporation of various artificial intelligence techniques.
The research activities carried out at LEMAC/UNICAMP are related to the following topics: integrated photonics, fiber optics, antennas, microwaves, computational electromagnetism, optical communications, and telecommunications.
Our research projects include the miniaturization of radars, photonic antennas and fiber optics, and even unique solutions for precision agriculture such as subsurface tomography.
