Gilliard N. Malheiros-Silveira received his B. Sc. degree in system analysis from the Universidade Estadual da Bahia (UNEB) in 2007, and his B. Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Instituto Federal da Bahia (IFBA) in 2008.
He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Campinas-SP, Brazil, in 2010 and 2014, respectively. He was a student member of the IEEE (Photonics Society & Antennas and Propagation Society) and a student member of OPTICA (formerly OSA – Optical Society of America).
He held a Postdoctoral Researcher position with CCH Optoelectronics Group at the University of California at Berkeley from 2015 to 2016. From 2017 to 2018, he worked on optical fiber-based devices and integrated photonics at the CTI Renato Archer, Campinas, São Paulo, an R&D unit of the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation, and Communication (MCTIC).
He was Assistant Professor at São Paulo State University (UNESP), Brazil, from 2018 to 2021. He was Visiting Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), Salvador, Brazil from 2021-2022. He joined the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC) at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in June 9th, 2022.
His current research interests include topics related to integrated photonics, inverse design, antennas, and computational intelligence. He is author and co-author of 21 papers in international journals, 2 book chapters, and 45 papers in international conferences. He is Academic Editor on the Editorial Board of INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF OPTICS (Hindawi) and Topical Advisory Panel Member of PHOTONICS (MDPI). He is Senior Member of IEEE (since 2021), and member of OPTICA and SPIE societies.
